Helena is responsible for overall environmental policy issue with a special focus on production processes and its impacts on the environment. On the agenda are Sweden's industrial emissions ordinance and the best available techniques (BAT) conclusions for pulp and paper production and major energy plants.
Regarding water issues focus are on the Water Framework Directive (WFD) that needs to be improved. The WFD should maintain the same level of ambition regarding the protection and management of Europe´s surface waters and water management after 2027 should be carried out at EU level (within the Directive) rather than Member State level (as an implementation issue).
